How to thread a punch needle
Here is my step-by-step guide (with pictures!) for threading a punch needle. When you are starting out, having a seriously broken down tutorial for each step of the process to refer back to can be so convenient. It becomes second nature quickly but it’s nice to bookmark just in case you have a brain freeze. Just a note for this tutorial I am using an Oxford #10 (regular). See the pictures below or scroll all the way to the bottom for just the verbiage. I hope this helps!
How to thread a punch needle:
Thread your punch needle by inserting yarn through the eye at the tip of the needle moving from slotted side to other side.
Guide yarn into slot by hooking working yarn into notch at bottom of wooden handle.
To secure yarn inside slot pull on the end through the top/eye a few inches.
Then pull down yarn though bottom so that only about 2 inches hangs out of eye of needle so you don't waste any.
You are ready to get punching!
