Join local me on Sunday December 8th from 1:00 – 3:30 pm at the Charleston Museum for a special Punch Needle Ornament Workshop. Taking inspiration across the street from the Joseph Manigault House, which will be decorated for the holidays, students will have the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the house before the workshop (admission to the Joseph Manigault House is included with registration fee). Back at the museum you’ll take all that inspiration and create a punch needle ornament perfect for your tree this Christmas.
I will teach you everything you need to know about this traditional rug making technique while giving it a modern and playful twist. Participants will learn about the best supplies to get started, how to thread a punch needle, stretch a frame, draw a design to fabric, how to punch, as well as various techniques for finishing your ornament. Beginners are welcome – no experience is required however this is also a great class to build on if you have taken a previous punch needle class with me. We will be utilizing a smaller punch needle, smaller weight yarn, and smaller hoop than her previous classes so you’ll be gaining new tools for your tool box.
This class includes the below materials needed during the workshop and are yours to take home with you:
#14 Fine Oxford Punch Needle
Premium wool rug yarn (in various colors)
Wool Backing Fabric
Morgan Non-Slip Hoop
Metal Snips
Water Soluble Marker
