Creative Corridors at Redux
Join me and my fellow Redux Contemporary artists for our annual Creative Corridors Exhibition. The theme this year is “Experimentation” so this year I teamed up with Redux artist Nancy Perry for a collaboration. Read about our pieces below:
For the prompt of "Experimentation" collage artist Nancy Perry and fiber Artist Daisy McClellan decided to team up and get out of their comfort zones. They each started a 12x12 inch piece and then swapped them with the intention of adding their touch to that piece with no rules. They started with their signature techniques, Daisy punch needled a bird onto linen and Nancy collaged and painted onto a board. Next they proceeded to work on each other's work. Nancy used acrylic paint on both sides of Daisy's piece to make it double sided and meant to be viewed from both sides. She encouraged Daisy not to clean up the "back side" and to let go. Not wanting to cover up Nancy's work on her board, Daisy decided to add removable pieces. She iced dyed cotton rope and created a knot that can be moved on the piece wherever the owner wishes. She also punch needled a little pouch that can also be moved as well or taken off completely and worn as a necklace or shoulder bag. The experience forced the artists to try new things, find solutions, and make tough decisions together. Throughout the process the artists really encouraged each other to embrace the unknown. They hope their pieces inspire you to experiment and try something out of your wheelhouse.
